Random magnetic field and the Dirac Fermi surface

چکیده
We study a single two-dimensional Dirac fermion at finite density, subject to quenched random magnetic field. At low energies and sufficiently weak disorder, the theory maps onto an infinite collection of 1D chiral fermions (associated each point on Fermi surface) coupled by vector potential. This low-energy exhibits exactly solvable fixed line, along which we directly compute various disorder-averaged observables without need for usual replica, supersymmetry, or Keldysh techniques. find longitudinal dc conductivity in collisionless $\ensuremath{\hbar}\ensuremath{\omega}/{k}_{B}T\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\infty}$ limit be nonuniversal vary continuously line.

Magnetic-field dependence of the YbRh2Si2 Fermi surface.
Magnetic-field-induced changes of the Fermi surface play a central role in theories of the exotic quantum criticality of YbRh2Si2. We have carried out de Haas-van Alphen measurements in the magnetic-field range 8 T < or = H < or = 16 T, and directly observe field dependence of the extremal Fermi surface areas. Our data support the theory that a low-field "large" Fermi surface, including the Yb ...
متن کاملMagnetic-field- and temperature-dependent Fermi surface of CeBiPt
The half-Heusler compounds CeBiPt and LaBiPt are semimetals with very low charge-carrier concentrations as evidenced by Shubnikov–de Haas (SdH) and Hall-effect measurements. Neutron-scattering results reveal a simple antiferromagnetic structure in CeBiPt below TN = 1.15 K. The band structure of CeBiPt sensitively depends on temperature, magnetic field and stoichiometry. Above a certain, sample-...
متن کاملEffective Field Theory and the Fermi Surface
This is an introduction to the method of effective field theory. As an application, I derive the effective field theory of low energy excita-tions in a conductor, the Landau theory of Fermi liquids, and explain why the high-T c superconductors must be described by a different effective field theory. Lectures presented at TASI 1992.
متن کاملAre the surface Fermi arcs in Dirac semimetals topologically protected?
Motivated by recent experiments probing anomalous surface states of Dirac semimetals (DSMs) Na3Bi and Cd3As2, we raise the question posed in the title. We find that, in marked contrast to Weyl semimetals, the gapless surface states of DSMs are not topologically protected in general, except on time-reversal-invariant planes of surface Brillouin zone. We first demonstrate this finding in a minima...
متن کاملFermi-Dirac Statistics
Fermi-Dirac statistics are one of two kinds of statistics exhibited by!identical quantum particles, the other being !Bose-Einstein statistics. Such particles are called fermions and bosons respectively (the terminology is due to Dirac [1902-1984] [1]). In the light of the !spin-statistics theorem, and consistent with observation, fermions are invariably spinors (of half-integral spin), whilst b...
